It will not come as news to anyone that attendance at exhibitions can generate rich rewards for the effective exhibitor. Exhibition and event activity have survived the more general economic downturn with surprising resilience. Many new exhibitions are springing up and many established events are drawing crowds and visitors in record numbers. So, it makes total sense to ensure that you explore all possible avenues when it comes to making face to face contact with existing as well as new potential customers, cementing established business relationships and nurturing new ones. Exhibitions and events command a surprisingly large share of the average marketing budget, a trend that is likely to continue for some time yet.

In our last post we discussed the different philosophies some exhibition stand designers like to work to and how the graphic design of pop up stands and banner stands should be approached. We talked about the “one image-one headline” attention grabber approach. This approach is totally valid but probably most appropriate when there is an eager sales person or consultant on hand to fan the spark of interest that their attention grabber may have ignited. But maybe this approach is not so great when the stand may be un-manned or perhaps if your stand is intended for browsers rather than talkers!

Well, the answer almost always comes back to the question “What is going to best fulfil our exhibiting objectives?” For example, some designers may take the view that, most important of all is a bold, attention grabbing headline and image, designed to catch the browsers eye and imagination literally in the blink of an eye
